CRUSADER FOOTBALL PRESS BOX TRANSFORMATION

Football has been a rich tradition at Wellington High School and Sumner County High School since the early 1900's! IMPACT BANK of Wellington knew that so with the assistance of Coach Tyler Ryan, Steve Sturgis and Samson Ledesma, this banner for the back of the football field press box was born. It features images from as far back as 1903 to present day with depictions of tradition, pride and commitment - all trademarks of the Wellington football program! Let's fill these stands and the track and get these IRONDUKES off to a great start - GO BIG RED!

Wellington has the advantage of small town living with close proximity to the major metropolitan city of Wichita. Wellington is easy to find, located just a few miles off the Kansas Turnpike I-35 in Sumner County.

Wellington was first surveyed on April 4, 1871 and named for the Duke of Wellington. It was designated as the permanent county seat of Sumner County in 1872. Today, Wellington is a thriving community looking eagerly into the 21st Century. The main business street in Wellington, Washington, runs along a ridge above the valley of Slate Creek and has several interesting turn-of-the-century buildings.

  • The downtown area offers pleasant shopping in a variety of stores.
  • The city lake west of town has extensive parks and campgrounds.
  • The Memorial Auditorium downtown is an impressive memorial to the veterans of World War I.
  • The golf course along US 160 is considered one of the state's best.

Wellington is served by Interstate 35, Highways US 81 & US 160, and an excellent airport.
